I love your blog -- used to do the Third Doctor dress-up bit at conventions in the 1980s and 1990s! :-D
ReplyDeleteThe only addition I would make is that Pertwee also wears the black Inverness cloak with purple lining in "The Mutants" too.
Cheers, JohnH
Very useful resource. One omission, in The Mutants the Doctor wears the Maroon, rolled collar jacket.

ReplyDeleteOoops.
Thanks for pointing that out - I'll put that right.
Hi Steve, this is indeed a superb resource and very well researched indeed!
ReplyDeleteI'd query one detail: Is the red lined cape seen in "The Sea Devils" the same one used in Jon's first and second series?
The version seen in the Sea Devils had four frog fastening and not buttons. In addition, the red lining now extends into the lapels. The Doctor Who experience states that the cape displayed (red-lined, with the four 'five-leaf' pattern frog fastenings) was used on screen and there is no evidence that it ever had buttons.
It would seem an unnecessary expense to go to the trouble of re-lining the cape and replacing the front panels with frog fastenings.
Regards
Tony
Also, in between the Day of the Daleks and the Mutants, the purple lined cape appears to grow shorter and somewhere in between the Daemons and the Mutants, the frog fastenings on the purple-lined cape change from a three-leaf to a five-leaf pattern.
